M28: Advanced Discipleship Training
M28 is an advanced discipleship training course designed to equip you as a solider and servant of Jesus Christ. M28 offers 12-week semesters every Spring and Fall.
M28 METHODOLOGY:
Biblical discipleship is a convergence of
three key components: Serving, Mentoring and Teaching. We have
strategically designed M28 to intersect these three areas.
TEACHING: You will attend a weekly classroom session and receive
Biblical training to give you a deeper understanding of Biblical truth
with a Christ-centered focus. Our hope is to see these lessons
reproduced through you in a key relationship or ministry.
MENTORING: Mentoring is one way to understand Jesus’ method of relational disciple making where Biblical truths and life experience are transferred life-on-life. Our hope is that you will find a fellow M28er to learn from and/or someone to mentor while in the M28 program. Mentoring will become a strategic focus of our Spring 2012 semester.
SERVING: You are encouraged to have a serving role inside and/or outside the church, which can serve as an immediate place to put the lessons you are learning into practice. For example, you might teach a Sunday class, tutor students at Overton High School, serve in our youth or children’s ministry, or minister to your children as a stay-at-home mom.
WHO: M28 is an advanced program for people eager to be stretched spiritually and build on the foundations of their faith.
EXPECTATIONS:
- You are expected to attend all 12 weekly sessions with no more that two absences.
- You are expected to read one book from the M28 recommended reading list and write a one-page summary including your personal takeaways, due at the end of the semester.
- You are expected to memorize seven passages of scripture related to the subject matter.
Winter Semester 2012
Dates: 12-weeks from January 24/25 - April 24/25, 2012 (includes a Spring Break)
Class Times: We offer two identical weekly classes. We encourage you to select a regular class time and use the alternate time as needed.
- Tuesday Morning 6:00-7:30am (no children's ministry offered)
-
Wednesday Evening 6:30-8:00pm (children's ministry is available)
Teaching: This semester in M28 we will examine one of Jesus' most famous quotes, "Follow Me." Jesus took twelve me and personally invested in them, instructed them with God's word, involved them in God's work and forever impacted the world! This model of discipleship was given to us as the model we are to carry out as we grow in our faith in Christ and as we train others to follow. You will be challenged and inspired by this study. Classes will be taught by Lead Pastor, Chris Conlee and Teaching Pastor, Andy Savage.
Personal Training
- Book Review: You will select a book from the M28 Recommended Reading List and complete a one-page review including personal takeaways during the semester.
- Scripture Memory: In addition, you will be given a set of Scripture memory verses to memorize throughout the semester. Each Scripture verse is related to the subject of the semester.
- APEST: Lastly, we ask all M28 students to complete an APEST assessment (leadership and ministry strengths profile).
Online Resources: Videos and notes are now available to you. Click here to view them on our website; notes are labeled as "transcripts". You will also find a duplicate of all M28 resources in the M28 App, available now in the Apple App Store and the Android market.
